How I Work
Research has shown that the factor that makes for the most effective relief of depression, anxiety, pain and confusion, is the empathic, emotionally satisfying connection between the therapist and the client – no matter what theory is being followed.
What I strive for in my work is to create and nurture the deep connecting experience that brings healing through heartfelt empathy and the feeling of being recognized and understood. My style is interactive, which means we engage in dialogue, exploring your issues and problems, and coming up with solutions.
Trauma Resolution
One of my passions is to work with clients to resolve and recover from past traumatic experiences. Traumas can be what we call “Small T” – small but insidious long-term episodes of neglect, harsh criticism, and other emotional abuses; and Big T – witnessing or experiencing horrific physical violence. I have advanced training in utilizing the amazingly effective tools of EMDR and other forms of bilateral stimulation which help clients regain their emotional balance and regulation and lessen and eventually dissolve the feelings these old traumas may trigger. Who I Am
I strongly believe in the uniqueness and preciousness of every person. It’s not up to me to tell you how to “be”, only to explore with you what you feel, and how, if you’d like to, you can change in order to live a more happy and fulfilling life. I have experienced being a son, brother, student, husband, and parent, and can relate to your experiences in a real way.
I have been a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Beverly Hills since 1991. I have taught and Masters and Doctorial level psychology graduates at several universities.
